Old SASSA card set to expire

Visit any Post Office branch, present an identity document and you will be issued with the new card within minutes.

South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA) grant recipients who still use the old SASSA card must note that these cards will expire on 31 December.

SASSA will not be able to deposit any payments for January into these cards. Beneficiaries who still use the old white card must therefore get the new gold card as soon as possible, but no later than 15 December.

According to SASSA, there are about 500,000 beneficiaries nationally who have not yet switched to the new card.

Getting the new gold card is simple. Visit any Post Office branch, present an identity document and you will be issued with the new card within minutes. Special arrangements are made for disabled beneficiaries who cannot visit a post office. These beneficiaries (or their relatives) should call the SASSA toll-free number 080-060-1011 to arrange for a home visit.
