YWP Women’s Institute gears up for international month

As always thoughts were extended to those members who could not be present.

YELLOWWOOD Park Women’s Institute president Sharon Quail opened the meeting by welcoming all members and their special guests.

As always thoughts were extended to those members who could not be present.

After the WI prayers, Sharon introduced the guests and handed over donations of lots of beanies, mittens and mugs to Rev Boet van Schalkwyk from Seafarers for all the sailors. She also handed over a voucher and many books to Hannalie Preston from Natal Settlers and food and towels to Paul Hoyte for Yellowwood Park’s own special Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW). All the donations were gratefully received. Many thanks as always to members who contributed towards all the donations.

The minutes of the last meeting were taken as read and the treasurer advised the WI is solvent. Pay the treasurer if you wish to attend the Christmas party and to purchase a badge.

Thanks were extended to Robyn and Dennis Murray for attending Evelyn House on YWP WI’s behalf next month. The theme of the meeting will be international month and Vanessa Wilesmith will put together a quiz to test all members’ brains and the food will be international too. Woodlands WI will hold its Christmas party on Friday, 7 December. The social hostess advised of all the happenings at the institute and especially how well their grandchildren are doing in all sorts of activities. Well done to them. Birthday wishes were given to members celebrating in November. There will be no competitions next month but the WI would like a really enormous bits and bobs table. Remember what you do not want, somebody else will love.

Members are to keep in mind next year’s Royal Show.

The evening closed early with the WI prayer and once again with the thought to go well, take care and above all be safe. Vice president Robyn Murray read out the competition results.
