Gang carry out midnight robbery on South Coast Road business

The criminals fled the scene when they noticed a blue light flashing in the distance

SECURITY GUARDS at a South Coast Road business were tied up and threatened with weapons before being robbed of a gun, phone and handbag by four men on Monday, 15 October.

The guards were on duty at about 1am when four men approached and threatened them with a knife and firearm.
They tied up the guards using their own shoelaces and questioned them about their supervisor. “The guards told them the supervisor was inside the building and the criminals went to find him,” said Montclair SAPS spokesman, Dereck Vijiam.

They robbed the supervisor of his phone and firearm. The four criminals left the supervisor’s office and returned to the guard room to take a handbag from one of the guards.
They fled the scene when they noticed a blue light flashing in the distance, presumably from a police vehicle.
