Remembering the 2017 October storm

Do you remember the Durban storm? Where were you when it happened?

Last year this time, 10 October Durban was hit with one of the worst storms in history with some people calling it Armageddon.  A year later, and the day is beautiful, sunny and not a drop in sight. But this day will still be remembered as the day that Durban was underwater.

With flash floods, torrential rains, and 90km/h winds, it was a scary time for Durbanites caught in the storm. Homes were destroyed, schools were ripped apart and many were left stranded while their cars floated on the flooded freeways.

It took almost a year for the city to recover, while some places are still recovering.

The grade 7 class at Collingwood Primary School is left in shambles after the Durban Storm ravaged through the already damaged school.
