Duo in Durban court linked to four Montclair hijackings

The accused were remanded in custody until 4 October

TWO men appeared in Durban Magistrates Court on Thursday, 30 August to face four counts of hijacking which were committed in Montclair.
The accused, both aged 22-years-old, were remanded in custody until 4 October for a formal bail application.

On 19 August, a 53-year-old woman was seated in her vehicle outside her home in Woodlands when she was accosted by two armed men. At gunpoint, they demanded her car keys and forced her into the passenger seat before they drove off towards Umlazi. They dropped the victim off under the Prince Mshiyeni bridge and sped off in her vehicle. The matter was reported to the Montclair police station for investigation.

Following an exhaustive investigation, Montclair trio task team together with crime intelligence unit officers proceeded to the Lamontville area where they apprehended the suspects on 29 August and recovered a hijacked vehicle.
The men were positively identified and linked to four hijackings committed in Montclair.
