SEVEN Bluff dancers made their mark in a televised performance as they appeared in the finals of a dance competition in Pretoria which was broadcast on popular Afrikaans channel, Kyknet.
The Dans in Jou Taal dance competition finals saw the seven Betty Blake Academy ballerinas aged between 10 and 15-years-old perform a beautiful classical piece entitled The Rose last Friday.
The young girls, who were both excited and riddled with nervous energy before the big finals, said they couldn’t wait to be on TV and do what they love best.

Nicolae Labistour (15) said the whole process leading up to the finals was an amazing experience. “This will be my first time on TV and it has been a wild ride. I enjoy ballet and have been doing this since I was young. It has taught me commitment, discipline and how to work as a team,” she said.

While the Bluff ballerinas did not win the competition, they nevertheless won the experience and memories which will be cherished for a lifetime. Assistant teacher Natalie Blake said even though they didn’t win the ballet section, “it was a great experience for our local dancers. The girls got interviewed and the adjudicator made some lovely comments.”
The girls, who train three days a week, will not get to rest on their laurels, as they now prepare for a few big upcoming dance festivals.
