Police arrest two in Quality Street

The two could not account for their possession of the items

TWO men aged 27 and 31-years-old pushing a Durban Solid Waste (DSW) bin were arrested after Wentworth police searched it and found items they could not account for on Saturday, 18 August.

The social crime prevention unit members were patrolling along Quality Street when they noticed one of the men pushing the DSW bin, while the other man carried a bag.

“The members stopped and searched the two. They found a number of items inside the bin and bags including cellphones, clothing and coins,” said Wentworth SAPS spokesman, Capt Mbuso Gumede.


Since the two could not account for their possession of the items, they were arrested and detained for possession of the suspected stolen property.

They appeared in Wentworth court on Monday, 27 August.

Police appeal to anyone who has had such items stolens to report to Wentworth police station to claim the property. “Whoever claims it must be able to identify the items as theirs. Members were commended for the arrest and recovery of items,” added Capt Gumede.
