Barker to host Bayview FC holiday soccer clinic

Clive Barker is keen to inspire the children in the hope of rearing the the next generation of professional players.

FORMER Bafana Bafana soccer coach, Cliver Barker will head up a holiday soccer coaching clinic for the youth aged between six and 15-years-old at Bayview Sports Club from 25 to 27 June.
The soccer clinic will be coached by Clive Barker and Reagan Stuart from 8.30am to 12.30pm on all three days.
Clive Barker played professionally and coached the SA national team. He started playing soccer at Bayview FC, so he is keen to inspire the children in the hope of rearing the the next generation of professional players.
Bayview Sports Club is a registered non-profit which works to support and develop children, coaches and the community within which they operate, to unite people through sports and recreation.

The club, which was founded more than 60 years ago, has seen many professional players and coaches grow from within its ranks to achieve success. These include Clive Barker, Clinton Larson, Rene Richards, Gary Goldstone, Shaun Dundee, Gordon Igesund and more.
Run solely by volunteers and parents who voluntarily commit their time to train and develop children in football and sport, Bayview’s benefit is extended to neighbouring communities and reaches children from as far afield as Merebank and Umlazi.

As many members come from disadvantaged homes and communities and have to be sponsored to enable them to participate in the sport, the onus is on the club which relies solely on registration fees, fundraising activities and the kindness of sponsors to keep it sustainable, to render this service.
