Pavements to make Montclair safer for pedestrians

Kenyon Howden Road is known for speeding motorists, and there there have been a number of accidents.

A NEW pedestrian pavement is being installed around Montclair Park on Kenyon Howden Road and down Montclair Road, which should be completed and ready for use in three weeks.

Ward 64 councillor, Gavin Hegter said he has since his inception as the ward representative asked for the construction of pavement on Kenyon Howden Road.

Now the project is going ahead as part of the council capital budget.

“A local contractor is carrying out the work with local workers. I want the community to be safe when they use that road. It is a busy area with a clinic, food outlets, a pharmacy, doctor’s room, a public pool and more, so a lot of cars and foot traffic make use of it. Kenyon Howden Road is known for speeding motorists, and there there have been a number of accidents. That’s why this pavement should serve as a safe alternative for pedestrians to stay off the roads and prevent them from needing to cross over to the other side to use the pavement,” he said.
