Bluff used goods dealers warned to renew licenses in good time

Applications for renewals of registration and the subsequent issuing of a registration certificate are free of charge.

SECOND-hand good dealers are warned by the Brighton Beach SAPS to register their business not more than 180 days and not less than 90 days before the expiry date of the existing registration.
If not done, registered dealers will face an automatic termination of their registration, effective immediately after the expiry date of their current registration certificate, and they must stop trading in second-hand goods.
Brighton Beach SAPS spokesman, Capt Louise Le Roux advised registered dealer to visit the SAPS website www.saps.gov.za to download or print the SAPS 601 (e ) renewal application form, the regulation 6 (3) statement and the checklist, or email W/O Van der Merwe at vandermerweA4@saps.gov.za to ask for the documents to be forwarded to them.

“Registered dealers who wish to renew their registration as a second-hand goods dealer must apply in terms of Section 11 of the Act, not more than 180 days and not less than 90 days before the expiry date of the existing registration. An application for renewal of registration must be made on a form SAPS 601 (e) application for renewal as a SHG dealer/recycler and must be submitted to the designated second-hand goods officer at the station in which area the business is currently situated,” added Capt Le Roux.

The renewal application must be accompanied by all relevant supporting documents listed in the renewal checklist. A renewal application may only be granted if the dealer or recycler shows they have continued to comply with the registration requirements in terms of the Act. For this purpose a regulation statement must be completed by the applicant and attached to the renewal application form.
“If a renewal application has been lodged within the prescribed period, the current registration certificate remains valid until the renewal application is considered and a new certificate of registration is issued to the second-hand goods dealer. Acknowledgement of receipt of second-hand goods documents will serve as proof that the dealer has submitted an application for renewal within the prescribed time period and that the current certificate of registration is still valid,” added Capt Le Roux.
Applications for renewals of registration and the subsequent issuing of a registration certificate are free of charge.
