As such, the schools’ bathrooms were given a make-over and the pupils were part of the Lil-lets’ team’s educational sanitary protection workshops.
The workshops and bathroom make-overs ran from Thursday, 22 March to Monday, 26 March. The campaign aimed to empower girls by arming them with body knowledge and mentoring opportunities, so they can grow into confident and successful young women. “This is aligned with our Lil-Lets global brand vision,” said Lil-lets senior brand manager, Sue Carruthers.

As part of the make-overs, the bathroom doors were painted in the various flow colours from purple (mini) to yellow (super-plus). The campaign focused on educating the girls on the correct products to use for their needs, as well as beautifying their bathroom environment.
“It is inspiring to see the difference we are making in the lives of these young women, and how excited they are to see their bathroom environments transformed into something colourful and uplifting,” said Carruthers.
“This is a great project. I thank Lil-Lets and City Celebration for making this possible. I would like to encourage the young women to take advantage of this programme and make a change in their communities,” said Anitha Govender from the eThekwini Municipality South Durban Basin Area Based Management.
