Healthy lunch box ideas for children

Give your children a healthy lunch box this year with these cool ideas.

The first school day for 2018 is about to kick-off and you have everything prepared from school uniforms to stationery. But the only headache that you will have to deal with on a daily basis is the lunches.

Back in the days we would only get peanut butter and jam or polony on bread….what a drag!

Let’s make it more fun for your children with these awesome lunch ideas by Shaun Dreisbach:

 

1. Burgers

Ground turkey is ideal, but even school hamburgers aren’t a bad choice because they’re usually small and contain vegetable filler (a good thing). Of course, it helps if kids forgo cheese, bacon and fries (at least sometimes).

2. Pizza

Yep, pizza! Many schools now offer up whole-wheat crusts and top the pies with part-skim-milk cheese. Even if not, a plain or vegetable slice is always a solid lunch standby.

3. Wraps

Whole-grain wraps filled with turkey, cheese, lettuce and tomato make for a well-balanced, no-mess meal.

Add fruits and sliced veggie like carrots and cucumbers on the side. Try not to give your children lunch money as they will buy junk with it. Rather save it in a piggy bank for them and in turn, teach them the art of saving.
