Some suburbs across the northern, western and southern regions of the city are still without power and
electricity is expected to be restored in the next few hours.

However, power has been restored in some areas, including New Germany. Technicians are assessing the damage and the cause of the explosion.

The city appealed for consumers’ patience while technicians work to restore power in all the affected areas.

“Power to areas which are still affected will be restored shortly,” said eThekwini Municipality’s spokesman, Tozi Mthethwa.
