BREAKING NEWS: Widespread power outage affects many parts of Durban
The city is busy trying to trace the source of the outages
A major power outage seems to be affecting suburbs across the greater Durban area, according to social media reports by residents living in Montclair, Bluff, Wentworth and Morningside, among others.

Getting news that there's a major power outage at the moment. Please reply with your area if you don't have electricity so we can gauge the extent. We're without power in Glenwood.

At about 10.30am, Doonside in Amanzimtoti experienced a significant power surge. While speculation is rife about a main transformer having gone down in Cato Ridge, eThekwini Municipality spokesman Gugu Mdlalose could only confirm the city is busy trying to trace the source of the outages with the electricity department.
