Montclair police warn residents not to employ people off the streets without checking they have proper references, as this may lead to criminal activity.

A Woodlands resident employed two men to paint her home on Friday, 2 March.
“She explained to them what to do and left them inside the house before she left to fetch her children from school,” said Montclair SAPS communication officer, Capt Dereck Vijiam.

When she returned, she noticed the men had disappeared and her house had been ransacked. She discovered her clothing, cash, shoes and takkies were missing.

Montclair police warned residents not to employ people off the street without checking references or their documentation.
