Having been chosen as one of the MESA ambassadors, Latalia Govender (21) believes beauty is skin deep and wishes to use this platform to advocate her message of inner beauty.
“MESA is a great platform to empower young women to grow and develop themselves by making a positive impact in their communities.

She believes she has grown as a person since being in this pageant, both mentally and physically, “My confidence has increased and I have become more of a risk-taker as MESA teaches you to not to be a chicken and to fly like an eagle,” she said.
When she wins the competition, she aims to promote love among young girls. “I believe most girls have low self-esteem and tend to bring others girls down rather than raising each other up and I also encourage women empowerment and women to increase their own gender respect,” she added.

According to Latalia, MESA is not a normal beauty pageant as it allows girls of any shape and size to test their inner and outer beauty, by focusing on community and women empowerment. “Inner beauty reflects how you feel inside and how you are as a person. It will always be more important than your outer beauty as your inner beauty is the truest version of yourself,” she said.
