Bluff mechanics urged to register under SHG Act

BRIGHTON Beach police urge mechanics and panel beaters to register their business in terms of section 2 of the Second-hand Goods (SHG) Act.
Brighton Beach SAPS spokesman, Capt Louise Le Roux said there are still a lot of mechanics and panel beaters within the police station’s area which are not yet registered.
She warned that these business owners can face arrest, detention and prosecution. “Business owners are respectfully requested to contact Warrant Officer Anton Van der Merwe at Brighton Beach SAPS via email for the application documents or via the SAPS website at www.saps.gov.za,” she said.

“Should any motor vehicle repairer, mechanic or panel beater business owner believe his business does not fall within the ambit of the Act, they are requested to contact W/O Van der Merwe to avoid wrongful assumptions being made, which may lead to an unpleasant confrontation with the law,” she added.
