Flood of support for Bluffite’s #DayZero water drive

The pick-up deadline is Tuesday, 13 February.

THERE was some unexpected good news for Bluffite Rukshana Salie who received a surprise call from local radio station, Lotus FM after they read in the SUN about her bid to raise 10,000 litres of water in aid of the Cape Town water crisis as well as challenge local businesses and communities.

Salie said she was ecstatic when she heard that she was going to be given the opportunity to voice her story on air.

Due to the recent media exposure, she has now raised about two tons of water.

Bluff schools have been amazing in their response to the challenge and on Monday, 5 February, Salie visited several schools to collect the water.

“I thank those who have helped so far to raise not only the water but money which will be used to buy more litres. We have 7,500 litres to go to reach our target. And thankfully, the Gift of the Givers Foundation has given us extra time to collect more until they collect the donations,” she said.
