Armed gunmen make off with R17,000 from Clairwood business

They raided the tills and safe before running away.

STAFF members of a Clairwood business were left locked up while armed robbers stole about R17,000 in cash on Monday, 22 January.

Montclair SAPS communication officer, Capt Dereck Vijiam said three armed men entered the business and held the store owner and his staff at gunpoint, demanding cash from the till and safe.

“The staff were instructed by the men to lay on the ground in the back room before they locked them inside,” said Capt Vijiam. They raided the tills and safe and got away with the money and cellphone and allegedly ran away on foot towards the La Lucia informal settlement in Clairwood.
