A Yellowwood Park father and his family escaped with their lives after armed robbers invaded their home last night (Thursday, 25 Janaury).

What was supposed to be a normal night of helping his children with homework turned into a nightmare when three armed men forced their way into the home and assaulted the family.

“Three armed men arrived in a white Renault with GP number plates and jumped over the driveway gate before forcing open the security gate to get into the house. They assaulted the father who was helping with his youngest son with his homework. When his daughter came out of her bedroom, they kicked her in the head. They ransacked the house and fled with a television and jewellery,” said Blue Security communication officer Andreas Mathios.

The criminals used the remote to open the driveway gate to flee, but just before they left, one of the men turned and fired several shots at the father, who had run to his vehicle. Fortunately the shots missed him. Rescue Care paramedics attended to the victims’ assault injuries.

Montclair SAPS responded to the scene of the crime.
