VIDEO: Embrace the beauty of your natural hair

Being natural is freeing your hair of any straightening chemicals including perms, relaxer as well as wigs and extensions.

Although the decision to go natural may be hard for a lot of women out there, the thought of cutting off possibly all your hair alone can and will depress you in all honesty.

Due to the masses of women who have chosen this, we have seen more women accepting their identity. Many people say this is a trend however it is a movement let us call it – the natural hair movement. So basically being natural is freeing your hair of any straightening chemicals including perms, relaxer as well as wigs and extensions.

Celeste Samuels, a natural hair supporter says “Going natural is a turning point in a woman’s life – it’s not just physical change its also accepting maturity and our identity as ethnic women, it’s also spiritual and it’s also educational, you don’t have to relax your hair to be accepted to be apart of society or to look appropriate for work, it’s about not being looked down upon because of your hair.
Being natural can help you understand the needs of your body and hair – of course, what you eat will affect your hair alone and I’m not just talking about growth.”

“My natural journey started on 21 January, 2016, no one was happy about it at all and I was often mocked and laughed at. I damaged my own luscious locks in 2014 because a co-worker told me my “Mufasa” looking hair wasn’t appropriate for work and that I should look more presentable. I then went to relax my hair every month from February 2014 to October 2014, my hair became limp, dry and curls less. That’s when I realised that I had truly messed up my not just my hair but my identity as people as knew me to be the girl with big beautiful curls and now more than a year later although I’ve accepted my own identity and even though I may or not look like I used to be, my hair is happy and healthy,” she added.

Here’s a recipe that helped Celeste.
