Matric marking starts smoothly in KZN

More than 10,500 people involved in marking of KZN matric class of 2017’s final papers

The marking process started without glitches in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, according to the KZN department of education.

“I am pleased to announce marking started without any problems. I have all confidence that our markers are going to do a good job, understanding that scripts are not just papers, but represent the future of our learners,” said MEC Dlungwana. Marking will take place in 27 marking centres.

Along with 27 marking centre managers, there are 54 deputy centre managers; 63 chief markers; 203 deputy chief markers; 1,485 senior markers; 7,306 markers; 27 administration managers; 1,289 examination assistants; 27 security managers and 27 catering managers.

The Department of Education has checked and confirmed that all the marking centres are ready. Local traditional and political leaders have been informed about the markers who have converged on their localities. The same applies to nearby police stations and hospitals.

The National Senior Certificate results for the matric class of 2017 is due for release on Friday, 5 January 2018.
