WENTWORTH SAPS have issued a festive season warning as cash-related crimes are expected to increase.
Communications officer for Wentworth SAPS, Captain Mbuso Gumede said criminals will be on the prowl, knowing that a lot of people will be receiving their bonuses around this time.

“These criminals will look for opportunities to rob people of their hard-earned cash and we warn the community to not carry large amounts of cash with them,” he said.
People involved in stokvel or investment groups must ensure their money is transferred into their bank accounts, as it is much safer than receiving cash. “Never deposit money into someone’s bank account when buying something such as a vehicle or any property before you see it, are satisfied and take ownership,” he added.
Senior citizens must be be accompanied by trustworthy family members to the bank, to prevent them from being conned or robbed. “The purpose of this warning is to educate the community to safeguard their hard earned cash and not to fall victims to theft, robbery or fraud.”
