A SPATE of armed robberies have been reported in the Montclair SAPS precinct, including Yellowwood Park and Clairwood throughout the last week, 15 to 20 November.
On 15 November a home owner was about to go out shopping at about 11am when three armed men invaded the Yellowwood Park home.
The trio held the resident at gunpoint and demanded cash and the car keys. They made off with jewellery valued at R170,000, a TV and vehicle.

Two days later, a shop owner was held up at knife-point by three men while he was closing shop in Clairwood. They demanded cash and took off on foot with seven phones. The owner can identify the thieves as they had been seen hanging around Clairwood and are known as whoonga boys. “They have been seen in the shop before and informers will be tasked to identify them so that they can be put behind bars,” said Montclair SAPS spokesman, Capt Dereck Vijiam.

On 20 November, a woman was approached by three men inside a Clairwood business who demanded money. Since she could not produce any cash, she was sent to another room to ask her colleague for money. “She was followed by one of the men, and when she called for her colleague she was pushed into the room and the men assaulted her while demanding money and cellphones. One of the men stood at the door, pointing a firearm at them,” added Capt Vijiam.
After the assault, they were handed money and phones before they fled on foot.
