Learn about a quickhatch with #SLSWednesdayWord

Apart from quickhatch, wolverines also go by other names, including skunk bear or carcajou.

THIS week’s #SLSWednesdayWord is a fun animal term. A quickhatch is an aged term for a wolverine, used in Canada centuries ago. According to dictionary.com, it was first translated into English from East Cree in the 1670s.

Apart from quickhatch, wolverines also go by other names, including skunk bear or carcajou. They are omnivorous mammals that look like miniature bears, but are actually the largest members of the weasel family, according to National Geographic.

Although, most of us are more familiar with the term wolverine as the name of a certain famous superhero with an adamantium skeleton. Can’t quite imagine he would strike as much fear into the hearts of his foes with the name quickhatch…
