BEWARE: Bluff sinkhole detour threatens refinery pipelines

Ignoring this warning could cause irreparable damage to the pipelines

WARD 66 councillor, JP Prinsloo warns motorists using Tara Road to avoid detouring around the barricade at the section where a sinkhole claimed a portion of the road due to the storm damage on Tuesday, 10 October.

Drivers ignore the concrete barricade which has closed off the road and bypass it using the verge.
“What they don’t realise is that the Engen and Sapref petroleum pipelines are located underneath the servitude on the verge. Ignoring this warning could cause irreparable damage to the pipelines and have catastrophic implications for the Bluff,” said Cllr Prinsloo.

Residents should use an alternative route via Club Drive or Beacon Road to avoid the sinkhole when traveling on Tara Road.

Cllr JP Prinsloo gives an alternate route for motorists in order to avoid the affected section of Tara Road.

“Tara Road has been placed on the city’s emergency repair list for urgent attention. The municipality cannot take responsibility for any injuries due to negligence by any person,” he added.
