JUST IN: Man breaks his leg in fall from Durban dry dock ship

The man fell several metres

On Thursday afternoon, 19 October, a man in his mid-30s broke his leg after falling from a vessel in the dry dock in Bayhead, Durban.

Reports from the scene allege the man fell several metres from the ship.

He was treated for a fracture to his lower leg by a Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedic. Analgesic medication was administered to reduce the pain he experienced. The man sustained a moderate injury and was in a stable condition.

He was transported by ambulance to hospital for further assessment and care.
