Wentworth Angels’ deadline extended to secure funds for home

The whole ordeal has taken a toll on Williams who has continuously battled to try and save the home.

WENTWORTH Angels has been given an extension to save its home base from being sold off.

Initially, the non-profit organisation was given until the end of September to come up with R900,000 to ensure they could purchase the house they operate from, but the date has been extended to 30 November.

With only R17894.45 raised so far, the Angels are far away from reaching the exorbitant amount. “We are trying our best to raise funds and in the process in organising more fundraisers to save our Wentworth Angels,” said founder Tracey Williams.

The whole ordeal has taken a toll on Williams who has continuously battled to try and save the home.

“To think I put so much effort into making this home liveable, only to have it taken away.”

“I’m at my wit’s end. Wentworth Angels has been nothing but an upliftment project for this community. We always host upliftment programmes, drug education workshops and we care for poverty-stricken people. We have maintained this house and we have been trying to make this house a home for the people who depend on us and this home,” said Williams.

Businessman, Ivan Ahmed who owns ID Ike’s Roofing and Waterproofing, said Wentworth Angels is very dear to his heart. He has made a contribution towards their goal and challenges other businesses to either match or double what he has donated as the NGO is worth saving. “I have known the organisation for a while and I have seen the work Tracey has done. I don’t think anyone or even she realises the lives she has impacted over the years. There is no way this organisation can close. Should they sell the premises, what will happen to all those lives that depend on Tracey for change, for love? She has never closed her door on anyone, yet there are people out there trying to shut her doors. Why would anyone do that, knowing she plays such an integral part in the upliftment of the community? She is nothing short of an unsung hero and we need to save this home,” he said.
