Fatal Wentworth shooting: Men turn themselves over to police

Another shooting rocks Wentworth as police investigate the murder of Waylon Hutchinson

TWO men aged 22 and 27-years-old were accompanied by a lawyer as they handed themselves over to Wentworth police yesterday (Wednesday, 27 September) in relation to the weekend murder of 22-year-old Waylon Hutchinson.

Wentworth police had responded at about 10pm on Sunday night, 24 September to the shooting scene on Richard Winn Road in Austerville.

“Four men were allegedly travelling on Richard Winn Road when a Polo abruptly stopped opposite them and began shooting at the vehicle,” said Wentworth SAPS communication officer, Capt Mbuso Gumede.

Three passengers were injured and taken to hospital while the fourth man, identified as Waylon Hutchinson, died as he arrived at Wentworth Hospital.

Police are still investigating the case. The two men have been detained.
