Jacobs worker struck by steel pipe

A heavy steel pipe apparently fell about two-and-a-half metres before it struck the man

A worker at an industrial site in Jacobs was hospitalised yesterday (Sunday, 10 September) after he was injured by a falling steel pipe.

At about 3.40pm, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a serious injury which was sustained when a heavy steel pipe apparently fell about two-and-a-half metres before it struck the man.

The cause of the incident will be investigated.

Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedics attended to the injured man, whose injuries ranged from moderate to serious. They managed his pain, stabilised the man and immobilised him to prevent any unnecessary movements before carrying him from the third floor.

He was then transported to hospital.
