N2 criminals rob motorist at fatal pedestrian crash site

Two men who began shouting at him for killing their brother

AN accident in which a pedestrian was killed quickly turned into the scene of an assault and robbery when criminals struck on the N2 southbound near Hull Road bridge on Thursday, 10 August.

While driving on the N2, a motorist struck a pedestrian who was crossing the freeway near the Msizi Dube Road (formerly Hull Road) bridge which crosses over the N2 near Lamontville and Merebank.
He immediately stopped to check on the man and called the police. The pedestrian was found to have died due to the impact.

While waiting for the police, he was approached by two men who began shouting at him for killing their brother. The situation grew more tense when five other men joined them and aggressively confronted the driver. They assaulted him and grabbed his cellphone which had fallen to the ground, before they fled the scene.

No suspects were arrested. A case of common robbery was open at the Montclair station.
