Durban South public makes drug-free pledge

Education is the number one tool in combating drug abuse

A COMMUNITY outreach programme held at the Merebank library on Saturday, 8 July urged the community to make a drug-free pledge.

The programme hosted by Drug Free Communities gave the community an opportunity to interact with educators of the various workshops on offer.

Drug-free pledges were signed and people also signed up for future drug educational workshops.

Co-ordinator of the programme, Fran Kay said: “The youth group handed out ‘The truth about drugs’ booklets to the public. We would like to thank the eThekweni library department for supporting this initiative towards working together for a drug-free community. Education is the number one tool in combating drug abuse and we will continue the campaign at Austerville library on Saturday, 22 July from 9am to 11am to create more awareness in our community,” said Kay.
