Property board game gets local makeover

Durbanites have been given the opportunity to suggest landmarks to be included in the game.

KEEN to see South Coast or Kenyon Howden roads on a Monopoly Board?

Now’s your chance! The iconic board game is getting a local makeover. A version of the property game will be released with popular Durban roads, landmarks and phrases.

Versions of the game around the world have been used to attract tourists to landmarks and locations for the last 20 years. With this new edition, the hope is that it will prove just as successful for this part of the world.

Durbanites have been given the opportunity to suggest landmarks to be included in the game, which is expected to be released in November.

Nominations opened on Wednesday, 10 May and will remain open on the Monopoly Facebook page for two weeks.

For the ‘community chest’ and ‘chance’ playing cards people will be given the chance to submit popular local phrases and words.

“Over the past years we have witnessed the city of Durban establishing itself as one of the premier destinations of choice for entertainment and leisure in the country.

“It has long been one of the regions on our list of targets, and this year seems like the perfect year for us to create the Monopoly Durban regional version. We’re extremely excited to see how it’s received,” said London sales manager at Winning Moves, Robert Osborne.
