City’s proposed budget and development plan to be discussed

The ward hearings started on 24 April and will continue throughout May.

eThekwini residents will have the opportunity to engage municipal officials on the city’s proposed budget, as well as aspects of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), which shapes development and drives service delivery in the city.

The Executive Committee approved a report outlining the 2017/18 budget hearing and IDP consultation roadshows.

The public participation process for the budget and IDP roadshows are organised in line with Section 16 of the Municipal Systems Act.

eThekwini Mayor, Zandile Gumede has emphasised the need to ensure that all 110 wards of eThekwini are afforded an opportunity to have input on the budget.

In addition to this, the budget will also be presented to traditional leadership and cultural, religious and business sectors.
