Detective duo arrest hostel murder suspect

The murder suspect will appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, 26 April.

DYNAMIC detective duo, W/O Rico Naidoo and W/O Tiger Ramsamy from Montclair SAPS have been praised for their excellent work once again after they arrested a murder suspect yesterday, 24 April.
On Monday, 27 March, a 39-year-old man known as Gazu was gunned down. It is believed the man, who was the chairman of the SJ hostel block at SJ Smith Hostel was attacked following disputes about the distribution of rooms. At the time, the gunman was unknown and there were no witnesses to the murder.

Brighton Beach Crime Intelligence and Montclair Trio Crimes received information at about 8.30am  yesterday, which led to a man being arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The serial number of the pistol was filed off. After detectives interviewed the man, it was established he could be positively linked to the murder.

“The firearm will be sent to the ballistic unit to establish if it was used in any other crimes and to link it to the murder case. Investigations will continue,” said Montclair SAPS communications officer, Capt Dereck Vijiam.
The murder suspect will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 26 April.
