What to do this Easter in Durban

Have some fun with the children or with friends.

THERE is entertainment for all ages and tastes in and around Durban this Easter.

THIS WEEKEND:

Throttle Brothers Motorcycle Club hosts its annual Easter Run from 9am. Meet at the Engen garage on Tara Road to join in. Take Easter eggs along to hand over to local children at the Ogle Road sports grounds in Wentworth. Following the Easter Run will be an Easter soccer tournament at the Ogle Road grounds. EASTER LONG WEEKEND:

From Friday to Monday, 14 to 17 April the SUNdeck at Suncoast Casino will have a jumping castle open to children from 9am to 4pm.On the same days, the Easter bunny will be touring the Suncoast Casino Complex from 11am to 1pm.

  • Saturday, 15 April sees open air salsa at the amphitheatre from 3pm to 5pm. This monthly dance sessions includes professional instructors demonstrating Latin American dances.
  • Also on Saturday, 15 April there will be live music with Just Eddie from 8pm to 10pm on the casino gaming floor. His performance will include jazz, rock, soul, kwaito, R&B and Afrikaans favourites.
  • Sunday Beats with Sonik Citizen is on Sunday, 16 April from 2pm to 4pm at the amphitheatre. Enjoy the band’s lyrical soul-rock music and expertise.
  • On Family Day, Monday, 17 April from 8pm to 10pm on the casino gaming floor there will be live saxophone music.

Let the children explore uShaka Marine World as they hunt for spoils from the Easter bunny in the colossal Easter egg hunt on Saturday and Sunday, 15 and 16 April. Children will have one hour to search for 100,000 tokens in the park which can be redeemed for marshmallow Easter eggs.

On arrival, each child will get a treasure map with clues to the eggs and information on the animals they will see in the park. Games and quizzes at various locations in the aquarium and uShaka Kids World will also give the youngsters a chance to win some eggs.

The hunt begins at 7am on both days and ends at 8am. Tickets are R140 per person and are available online at uShaka Marine World online ticketing.

uShaka is also putting on display a special Easter dolphin show on both days commencing at 8.30am. Along with the stars of the show, the dolphins, the show will feature uShaka Marine World ocean warrior mascots – Delia the Dolphin, Slippy the Seal, Rusty the Penguin and Raggy the Shark with a guest appearance from the Easter Bunny.
