Motorist dies after car plunges off N2

Driver killed in collision

A motorist died and his passenger was left injured in an accident on the N2 south near the cement factory on Saturday night, 25 March just after 8pm.
Rescue Care paramedics responded to the scene where the single vehicle had lost control and crashed into the barrier, before overturning and going over the bridge.
It came to rest on the railway lines below. Paramedics accessed the wreckage through Coedmore Road. The driver, who was still entrapped in the wreckage, had suffered extensive injuries and had died before their arrival. He was declared deceased at the scene.
The passenger sustained minor injuries and was stabilised before being transported to a nearby hospital.
The exact cause of the collision is unknown. Police were at the scene and will investigate.
