IT was a sad meeting

IT was a sad meeting on 2 March, presided over by group executive M Lavis, when it was recorded that as of 28 February 2017 Bushlands Women’s Institute (WI) will cease to exist, after a period of 51 years.

However, not all is lost, as some of the present members will be joining other institutes in the Southern Hills Group so their talents and expertise will not be lost.

The following were the year-end competition winners for the year past:

Craft: First L Bootes, second D du Plessis, third White and N Brown.

Homemaking: First L Bootes, second M Jones, third D du Plessis.

Agri/Horti: First N Brown, second D du Plessis, third M Jones.

Best bloom: First D du Plessis, second Y Munro, third M Jones.

Floral: First D du Plessis, second M Jones, third Y Munro.

Adult ed: First M Brown.

Merit: First N Brown, second Y Munro, third L Bootes.

Overall winner N Brown and runner-up D du Plessis.
