THE raging fire that has engulfed a massive warehouse building off Solomon Mahlangu Drive continues to rage some 10 hours after it ignited at about 9.30am this morning.
Huge plumes of smoke have billowed across Durban’s skies to the north of Clairwood for the duration of the day.
Exhausted fire teams are swopping shifts to battle the blaze through the night.

According to Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson, the fight is ongoing to reduce the blaze and firefighting teams are swopping shifts so that a fresh team can continue the firefighting effort using sand and water.

Meanwhile neighbourhood watch volunteers are providing the brave firefighters with drinking water.
Despite the downpour, the fire is proving tough to extinguish, after the building containing wax panels caught light. Heavy winds have added fuel to the massive blaze.
