JUST IN: Yellowwood Park man found dead after alleged hit for hire

They were ordered to abandon the vehicle to make it look like a hijacking.

A MAN’s greed for money led him to allegedly hire killers to murder a Yellowwood Park man.

The YWP resident’s body was discovered, wrapped up in blankets and thrown in the bushes in Umlazi.

A vehicle was found abandoned in Umlazi with blood splatters covering the rear of the car. It was recovered by tracker members from Netstar on Tuesday, 7 March. It was believed to belong to the deceased.

Members of the tracker company informed the authorities who did a search and confirmed it belonged to a Yellowwood Park resident.

The police, who couldn’t get in touch with the car owner, went to his home where they found a man cleaning the floors inside. The police officer grew suspicious after he noticed some blood stains on the driveway of the home.

Following his suspicions he interviewed the man before he called Capt Pillay from the trio task team. The man in the house was placed under arrest and the forensics team was called in to collect finger prints and photos of the vehicle.

“Another forensics team was sent to Umlazi where the vehicle was found to collect more evidence,” said Montclair SAPS communications officer, Capt Dereck Vijiam.

It was established the man was living with the victim. The deceased, who had no next of kin, told the man, when he dies he will inherit everything, including a R2 million policy. The man, who could not wait for natural causes to take their course, allegedly hired two men to kill him and dump his body in Umlazi. They were ordered to abandon the vehicle to make it look like a hijacking. And he said would report the man as missing.

“Investigations are in progress as the other men involved are currently being tracked. The murder weapon was found in the suspect’s room,” said Capt Vijiam.
