Man rescued after two metre fall from Durban harbour pier

He was trapped in the concrete bollards

A man who had fallen two metres from a pier at the Durban harbour entrance was rescued on Friday evening, after being trapped in concrete bollards.

At about 7.30pm, Netcare 911’s advanced life support paramedics joined the police rescue and firemen aboard one of the rescue boats.

Officials in the joint operation managed to pull the man back onto the pier. NSRI took the Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedic across the harbour where he got on board the ambulance to treat the seriously injured man.

The patient was transported to a Durban hospital for the care that he required.
