Police dragnet closes on 123 drug users

Drugs with a street value of R12,000 were recovered

A police dragnet closed in on criminals in the Wentworth Phoenix, Wentworth, Chatsworth and Inanda areas, when 123 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs.

The operation was conducted over the week from 10 to 17 October by members of the various police stations in those areas.

Police carried out suspect raids as well as other crime prevention duties and recovered drugs such as dagga, heroin and cocaine with a street value of R12,000.  Those arrested were charged for possession of drugs and appeared in various magistrates’ courts.

KZN acting provincial commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa praised members for their commitment in rooting out criminals. “These successes  send a clear message to those who engage themselves with criminal activities that we will not rest until we put them behind the bars,” he said.
