Margaret shares fascinating facts at Bushlands WI

WI president Nora Brown opened the meeting with a welcome to all - it was good to see new members Betty Devine and Letitia van Zyl present.

MARGARET Everett delivered a fascinating address at Bushlands Women’s Institute’s (WI) October meeting.

The information ranged from the secret of keeping your keys safe and how to utilise a hanger to keep your book open, to identifying orchids and the technology available on the internet.

She even demonstrated a book her daughter had given her on birds with push button apparatus which identifies the bird you are seeking by its call. She even provided a remedy for getting rid of worms which eat your lilies and cycads, and advised that most snakes are harmless and more afraid of people than we are of them.

WI president Nora Brown opened the meeting with a welcome to all – it was good to see new members Betty Devine and Letitia van Zyl present. ‘Let there be peace on Earth’ was sung and apologies recorded from Marie Brown, Hazel Caldwell, Marlene Jones (her husband is not well following surgery and thoughts and prayers are with her and her family) and Kay MacKay. Angela Croucamp was wished a happy day for 3

October and presented with a gift. The raffle prize was won by Sigrid White.

There was an informative round robin, the most exciting news being that Nora was travelling to Bali for a week from 20 to 29 October.

Margaret Everett kindly judged as follows:

Agi and horti: First Daphne du Plessis, second Nora Brown. Craft: First N Brown 100, second Y Munro 92. Best bloom: First D du Plessis 100, second Y Munro 95.

The meeting ended with the Mary Stewart Collect.
