Cycle track opens at eco park

Bluffites get cycle trail.

WITH fanfare and fun, the Bluff Eco Park officially opened the much-anticipated Bluff cycle track on Saturday, 3 September.

Along with a number of local businesses and attractions, the 2.5km Bluff Eco Park trail was opened during a day of entertainment, music and good food.

Children were treated to a train ride, face painting and games, while adults enjoyed the taste of local food businesses.

The main event was the cutting of the ribbon to open the cycle track, which runs through the park, allowing cyclists to take in the beautiful sights of the Bluff’s nature and wildlife.

Many Bluffites called for a bicycle track to be opened on the Bluff and through the work of cycle track designer, Guy Watkins and his wife, Josick Watkins, it has become a reality. Community Orientated Policing chairman, Rake Jeeves and the Bluff Eco Park’s Justin Grobler and Melissa Devos were also heavily involved in its development.

The track is open from 8am to 6pm daily. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For information and costs, call Jackie on 079-264-3121.
