Dagga owner flushed out by police

The woman tried to lock herself in the bathroom

IT did not end well for a Woodville Road woman whose attempts to evade the police ended in her arrest for drug possession on Thursday, 31 August.

Members of the Wentworth SAPS vispol unit were on duty when they received information about drugs being delivered to a flat in Woodville. They proceeded to the flat and demanded entry. A woman, aged 31, responded but when she saw the police officer, she tried to lock the door with a padlock. “The officer forced the door open. By then the woman ran into the bathroom, pretending that she needed to use it,” said Wentworth SAPS communications officer, Capt Mbuso Gumede.

A female officer followed the woman and pushed the door open. She was found sitting on the toilet. The officer noticed a plastic bag containing dagga inside the toilet.

298.4 grams of dagga packed in 133 small plastic pockets were seized with a street value of R650. The accused appeared in court on the same day of her arrest.

“We applaud the community of this area for the positive information provided and it shows the community and the police can achieve a lot if they work together in the fight against drugs,” added Cpt Gumede
