Man bagged for drug and gun possession

A firearm and ammunition and drugs have been removed Hime Street on Friday, 26 August.

While patrolling Hime Street, Wentworth SAPS officers noticed a man carrying a big bag and acting suspicious. When  officers stopped their vehicle to search him, he began to run.

They chased him through the flats and collared him. The bag was searched and they found a black firearm, a magazine containing three 9mm bullets and 40  pink and clear capsules suspected to be heroin. The 31-year-old man was placed under arrest. He was found with no license to carry a firearm. He appeared in court on Monday, 29 August.

“Anyone in possession of a firearm should have a valid licence to carry that type of a firearm and also ammunition. It is unlawful to carry a firearm without a licence in terms of the Firearm Control Act. Anyone caught carrying a firearm without a licence will be dealt with accordingly in terms of the law,” said Wentworth SAPS communications officer, Cpt Mbuso Gumede.
