Woman robbed at knifepoint

Women who walk alone place themselves in a precarious position.

WHILE Women’s Month draws to an end, women are still the targets of criminals.
While walking along South Coast Road in Clairwood, a woman was attacked by two men around about 6.15pm on Sunday, 31 August.

One man produced a knife and threatened her. “They snatched her bag from her nad tried to grab her necklace but she screamed for help,” said Montclair SAPS communications officer, Cpt Dereck Vijiam. The men fled on foot with just the handbag, which contained cash and other valuables. The victim could not recall any details about the criminals since it happened so fast.

“Women who walk alone place themselves in a precarious position. Rather attempt to walk in a group or in the company of others. Do not walk alone when it is dark, unless it’s absolutely necessary. Always be alert to your surroundings, never take anything for granted,” added Cpt Vijiam.
