Yard hoppers’ sighting caution

Ensure your homes are secure.

KEEP your windows, doors, gates and garages locked up, warns a Bluff security company following an attempted theft on Wednesday, 29 June.

At about 3.30am, Security Force members, Craig Coldron and Andre van Loggerenberg were patrolling along Dunville Road when they were stopped by a resident, who told them about two yard hoppers who were spotted in the area.

The two men in blue overalls were seen looking through a window. They fled the area when they were seen by a home owner.

An alert was sent out through the Bluff’s Community Orientated Policing (COP) WhatsApp group. COP member, Louis van Ryneveld informed other members, along with Blue Security and Brighton Beach SAPS.

A search of the area did not yield results.

Coldron warns community members to keep all valuables out of sight and to ensure windows are secure. He added that while Security Force members patrol the Bluff at night they have noticed people leave their driveway gates and garage doors open. He warns that this could entice criminals.
