Tyre thieves stopped in their tracks

Tyre theft is on the increase and those caught will be charged and sent to court

A FAILED alibi led to the arrest of two tyre thieves on Sunday, 3 July.

A Montclair SAPS police officer was on patrol when he noticed two men walking on the corner of South Coast and Daya roads.

He stopped and questioned the men about where they got the two tyres in their possession from. Following up on their alibi, he visited the company where they allegedly got the tyres from and checked with the security guard on duty.

The security guard did not know who they were or of their story

“The security guard did not know who they were or of their story. They were arrested and are under investigation. Police have 48 hours to investigate. Tyre theft is on the increase and those caught will be charged and sent to court, ” said Montclair SAPS communications officer, Lt Dereck Vijiam.
