Child among 16 injured in Higginson Highway crash

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the child.

A COLLISION shortly before 2.30pm today, 29 June has left 16 people injured on Higginson Highway.

It is not known what caused the taxi and a truck to crash head-on into one another on top of the bridge.

Rescue Care paramedics treated a child who was freed from the front seat of the taxi by firefighters who used the Jaws of Life.

Fifteen other people sustained varying injuries and all 16 were treated on scene before being taken to hospital.
